5 REASONS WHY IT’S IMPORTANT TO BE A STUDENT FOR LIFE!
As we grow, we’re always learning while being in school, and some of us don’t realize the important reasons to never stop learning once school is over. To be honest, after college some people never even pick up another book. We often lose hope and drive to continue making a great impact in our lives. However, there are many reasons to never stop learning…and I hope these following reasons will be a great benefit to you. Let me know if the ones listed below inspire and motivate you to fuel your mind!
1. IT KEEPS THE MIND ACTIVE
The world keeps changing every day. There is always something new to learn or figure out. With the continuous change it is ever so important to stay alert and “in the know” to keep an active mind. Reading blogs ( like Girls Who Lead)..lol , books, newspapers, taking a seminar or teaching someone else etc. are all things that can help you keep active.
2. LEARNING IS FUN!
Or at least I think it is! In my opinion one way to keep the youth involved in continuous learning is to make it fun, and the same goes for any age! If you make learning fun and relatable it may be easier you one to remember things and want to keep learning. It’s not fun when we have to struggle to understand certain things, but it is all a learning lesson! Spending time getting to know what works and does not work will benefit your continuous learning..(as long as you keep it fun). Always remember, a mind is a terrible thing to waste!
3. A GREAT EXPERIMENT
Refreshing your memory or learning something new on a topic that you know or would like to know more about will prevent you from getting tired of doing the same thing. Experiment with new topics of interest and explore new ideas. And as much as we like to make excuses about not having any extra time, we really do. You make time for your priorities!
4. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER
More doors open up for you when you begin to gain interest in new things and start to develop and gain knowledge about certain topics. Having an understanding of different cultures, views and political opinions that are recognized daily in any social environment will give you a few extra brownie points. I need to brush up on these areas myself so that I can stay ahead of the game. No matter what your favorite or least favorite topics is, just start by asking questions and searching for answers. You will start to read more, gain new friends and learn things that will benefit your life.
5. MORE THRILLING CONVERSATIONS
Speaking of gaining new friends, when you begin to become more proactive in expanding your mind the conversations will start to flow. When you are more in tune with learning, the conversation you have will become more authentic and both sides can contribute in an effective manner. The relationships with people will become stronger because there is a deeper connection that has been made. Start forming conversations with random people, ask and answer questions.
If life after high school or college has become less interesting to you then it is time for a change. You have the option of opening your mind by attending events, reading more and investing positively into yourself. What are some of the things that you do to keep the “student” in you alive and well?
